Green Tips for CNY!

Preparing for Chinese New Year? Here's a great green tip from the Monetary Authority of Singapore - use "good as new" notes for your ang bao / laisee.

Remember to recycle your ang bao / laisee envelopes for next year!

Instead of buying new clothes for the new year, perhaps you could try refashioning your old ones! Just add embellishments.  I've been cutting out flowers from scrap fabric.  A slow process but worth the wait :-)

Are you mindful of what is put in your food? Why not make your own Chinese New Year turnip cakes and sweet nian gou?  There are a lot of recipes on the internet and you can adjust the amount of salt, sugar and meats in the recipe.  And since you're cooking it there are no preservatives or MSG!!  I used this recipe.  I didn't add in the brown sugar (I used rock sugar) to the sweet nian gou so I ended up with a white coloured one!

Doesn't this look yummy ! :-)

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book.
